Once my buddies and I started hitting the Sportscards Collector shops, our eyes were opened to how amazing the older cards are–to actually see them in person! We had seen many pictures of early Hank Aaron cards and old Ted Williams cards (of course we couldn’t afford them!) but to see them in person, under the glass, almost accessible…what an amazing thrill! I remember I saved up for an old 1957 Ernie Banks card. I was so nervous that it would be gone when I finally arrived at the store with the money to buy it. It was still there, under the glass, in a plastic sleeve. Few!
